Spray Tan
Before and After Care

The Day Before Your Appointment…

Shave and Exfoliate

How To Properly Exfoliate:

  1. Use an oil-free exfoliant. An exfoliant with oil or aloe in it will leave behind a residue barrier that can interfere with your spray tan.

  2. Start from the top and work your way down. If you exfoliate your shoulders last then everything you scrubbed off your shoulders will land on the rest of your body, ruining all your hard work!

  3. Do not apply anything to your skin after the exfoliation process. If you apply products after you exfoliate then you’ve just created a barrier between your skin and the spray tan solution!

The Day of Your Appointment…

  1. Avoid Skin Barriers - Don’t put anything on your skin that will act as a barrier between you and the sunless solution.

AVOID: Make-up, deodorant, body spray, perfume, lotion

  2. Clothing - Know what you are going to wear, if anything, immediately following your Spray Tan. (We say, ‘if anything,’ because if you’re at your own home, you don’t have to put any clothes on. Although you might want to put a towel or something down if you want to veg out on your white sofa.)

  • Don’t wear tight or clingy clothing, such as leggings, skinny jeans, boots, etc. We suggest a light sundress and sandals.

  • Don’t wear anything that will rub your skin when you move, especially tight jewelry. Constant rubbing may keep that area of the skin from developing.

  • Don’t wear light-colored clothing. As with most sunless tanning solutions, the amazing solutions we use have bronzers in them, which have a tendency to rub off on clothing.

  • Do wear clothing that covers all of your tan if it’s raining! Rain can wreak havoc on a tan, so be sure to wear something that will protect you from the elements if you have to go outside in unfavorable conditions.

After Your Appointment…

Showering –

When you should shower

  • The rule of thumb with traditional tans is waiting 8-12 hours before showering.  You never want to rinse off before 8 hours, and ideally, you should shoot for at least ten hours for the best results.

  • Rapid Tan rinse off time depends on your skin type and your desired level of darkness. Leaving it on for longer will result in a deeper, richer tan. Always consult your spray tan professional on what your recommended rinse off time is!

How you should shower

  • Don’t use soap, shampoo, or any other body product on your initial rinse off

  • Do use only water!!

  • Do pat dry with a towel instead of applying a lot of pressure.

  • Do moisturize – now and forever!!!
